About

IMG_4174.HEIC

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Notre Dame. I am most interested in combining community ecology with ecophysiology to understand plant community responses to disturbance (or lack thereof), including fire, herbivory, and drought. I completed my PhD  at Kansas State University, where I combined physiological and trait-based approaches to gain a better understanding of the strategies woody plants use establish, survive, and grow in grasslands and savannas. Grasslands and savannas are unique and complex study systems in that their structure and composition are highly influenced by fire frequency and grazing by large mammals. There is something fulfilling about trudging through grasslands in the heat of summer!
